When McDonalds decided to have their CEO do a video trying their new Big Arch burger, they were likely inspired by the success of young, charismatic CEOs that have become social media darlings, like Damola Adamolekun of Red Lobster. The McDonalds video did go viral, but for all the wrong reasons…

Unfortunately the delivery fell flat and received a lot of criticism online with many finding the video forced and stiff. The internet took major issue with the tiny bite he took and the fact that he called the burger “the product.” The video has gone mega-viral with even late night comedians including it in their monologues.

Of course, competitors were quick to clapback with their own executives chowing down on their own food in a more “real” and “authentic” way. Hint: if you’re going to make a clapback, make sure it hits.
